DIRECTIONS TO MAKE FARMER’S QUICHE
Step 1
In a saucepan, combine rice, butter, and salt with 2 cups of water.
Step 2
Cook rice for 40 minutes, without lifting the lid, until it is tender (bring mixture to a boil, cover, and lower heat).
Step 3
For 5-10 more minutes, cover and leave rice off heat.
Step 4
Stir 2 cups of the cooked rice with 1/4 cup melted butter, 1 egg, and 2 cups of the leftover rice together (reserve the remainder for another use).
Step 5
To prepare the oven, preheat it to 350°F.
Step 6
A 9-inch glass pie pan should have mixed rice pressed equally into the bottom and sides of it.
Step 7
After 15 minutes of blind baking at 350°F, remove the rice crust from the oven and let it cool until it is filled (the rice should feel slightly dry but not overly sticky).
Step 8
Combine lightly three eggs, buttermilk, heavy cream, chopped sage, salt, and pepper in a small mixing bowl.
Step 9
Lay out some bacon crumbles at the base of the rice crust.
